Children’s Dentistry in Kingsley
We want to help children learn to love coming to the dentist! At Serene Smiles Perth, our approach is gentle and patient, providing the preventive care your child needs to ensure a healthy foundation for a lifetime of good oral health. Dr Mitra Shabanian and Dr Parnian Zareie are a mother and daughter team with the mission of “our family taking care of your family.”
When Should Children Start Going to the Dentist?
We recommend kids come in as soon as they have teeth, or by age one. At that age, they can simply come along to their mum’s appointment, and we’ll have a quick look in their mouth to help them get used to the dental environment. When we start the process early and kids come in annually from that age on, we can make it a positive experience that they look forward to.
Our goal is to avoid trauma by making visits to the dentist enjoyable.
My Child’s Teeth Are Crooked—Do They Need Braces?
We’ll do an assessment of your child’s teeth and let you know if we think they need braces. If so, we’ll refer them to an orthodontist.
The Process
Your dentist will introduce herself and have a chat with you and your child. Our office is kid friendly, and the treatment room is relaxing, with kids’ channels playing on the TV for them. We’ll do a quick check-up to determine if your child needs a clean, or if there are any other issues of concern. If there appears to be decay, we may take photos and/or X-rays.
We’ll explain everything we find to you and advise you if any further treatment is needed. If so, we’ll discuss various options for care.
Your dentist will explain anything you need to watch out for and offer education about what to look for when baby teeth are coming out, how to brush and floss properly and dietary issues. They’ll also discuss any need for orthodontics.
