Dental Implants in Kingsley
Dental implants are an option if you have a missing tooth or teeth. They offer advantages over dentures and can provide the closest thing possible to a natural smile. At Serene Smiles Perth, Dr Mitra Shabanian and Dr Parnian Zareie offer a gentle approach to dental restorations, such as implants.
Who Needs Dental Implants?
If you’re missing teeth, or need teeth removed, dental implants may be a good option for you. Some people who have had dentures opt to switch to implants so they have a fixed solution, rather than removable dentures.
The Process
The process for dental implants involves multiple appointments over a 3-6 month period. The first step is the consultation, where we will assess the rest of your mouth and the affected area. We can’t place implants if there is active disease, so any treatments necessary to create a healthy environment must be completed before we begin the implant process.
We’ll assess your bite, spacing between your teeth, and the amount of bone you have in the area. We’ll also take a 3D scan that will be used to assess the bone to ensure it is sufficient to hold the dental implant.
Next, we’ll schedule your implant appointment. At that visit, we will remove the tooth (if it isn’t already gone) and place the implant. In some instances, we’ll place a temporary crown. Then we’ll wait about three months for the bone to heal and fuse with the implant.
Once the implant is fully healed, we’ll place the final crown and the process will be complete.
