Restorative Dentistry in Kingsley
Tooth enamel is the hardest substance in the body—even harder than bone. You might think that should make it almost indestructible, but if it were, there wouldn’t be any need for dentists!
While proper brushing, flossing and periodic cleanings and exams in our practice contribute to a healthy smile, sometimes, even with the best dental care, you can experience tooth decay, cracked and chipped teeth or even missing teeth that affect the way you look and feel about yourself.
That’s where restorative dentistry at Serene Smiles Perth comes in. Our Dentists, Dr Mitra and Dr Parnian, are committed to providing the best restorations possible in the most gentle and comfortable manner.
What Is It?
Restorative dentistry provides the perfect “fix” for those missing, decayed and damaged teeth and prevents them from affecting adjacent teeth. Our restorative treatments include:
Crowns or “caps” go over an existing tooth to protect it and provide additional structural support to a damaged tooth. The may be necessary in particular situations, such as:
- After a root canal
- Broken tooth
- If a tooth has large fillings or cracks
- Worn tooth
We’ll prep the tooth and take moulds of it, which are sent out to the dental lab to create your crown. At your next appointment, we’ll place the crown. With proper care, a crown should last ten years or more. If you grind your teeth, we’ll recommend a splint to protect your restorations.
Dental implants are an excellent solution to replace a missing tooth (or teeth). They are as close as we can get to replicating your natural teeth. A titanium post is placed in the jawbone, and then we wait a few months for the bone to fuse with the post. When it’s healed, a permanent crown is secured to the post. Implants can be used to anchor a bridge as well.
At Serene Smiles Perth, we offer dentures as a good replacement option for people who don’t mind a removable device.
